What is Accountability Coaching and Who Needs One?

Let’s face it, we all live in a high paced world with competing priorities. When priorities collide, the easiest thing to give up is what does not impact others. Your health and wellness. An accountability coach is someone that keeps you on task and reminds you of your WHY.

Accountability coaching services are not new but with modern technology and multiple modalities of connecting, making yourself available to the power of positivity has never been easier. Think for a moment about some of the most successful athletes in the world. The one thing they all accepted early on is that they will not reach their goals without a coach. I had my coach, Jerry Holtrey; Michael Phelps has Bob Bowman; Tiger Woods has Chris Como and The New England Patriots have Bill Belichick. Why should it be any different your health and wellness? It Should not.

The system of coaching is not about achieving someone else’s goals, it is about achieving your OWN. For long term results in anything, the catalyst force change has to come from within. I believe the best way to change is to keep the method and process consistent and simple.

  6. Explore, validate, and celebrate success

Process

  4. Work
  5. Accountability sessions
  6. Outcome measurement and plan adjustment

I often say things like “change is a process” and what most often prevents someone's success in achieving their health and wellness goals is when they lose sight of that principal. Another self critique downfall is that since we are all our own biggest critics, we do not allow ourselves much slack. In my practice of coaching and accountability sessions, I stress the importance of 80/20 and that perfection is not expected. The key to success is consistency and that impact compounded over time has a profound effect on ones life.

Self-talk and strategic-talk have completely different tones. Last month, I introduced you to my mantra of “Always Believe” and with my belief in my clients, a strategic plan towards success and skill building along the way, you will believe in yourself. Even better, your outlook on your wellness will improve and the confidence and skills learned along the way are applicable in all areas of life.
